What Is On The Other Side Of Your Pain?

What Is On The Other Side Of Your Pain?

Clients come to Bloke Therapy in pain.

They look for a professional psychologist to get rid of that pain.

To get rid of that stress, feeling down in the dumps depression and overthinking anxiety.

But if I ask these men what they would like written on their tombstone, I don’t find blokes who say…

He finally found a way to reduce his pain.

What most blokes want on their tombstone are things like:

He was a great father.
A loving husband.
A wise teacher.
A reliable friend.
A part of his community.

I understand that my are clients longing to be free from the extraordinary pain that life can deliver.  But at the same time, I keep my eye out for something larger that can help carry my clients towards living the life they love.

For each and every client, the greater the darkness, the more certain I am that there is something really amazing just on the other side.

When life feels that hard and they’re still here and still turning up, there must be something in the midst of all their pain that is worth preserving.  There’s some hope there, some longing there, some potential there, and I want to see it.  I want to know it and give them the tools to go after it,

I recognise how hard it can be for clients to change, and I also recognise how important it is that clients have something to change for. That’s what a lot of what happens at Bloke Therapy is about.  It’s about finding the potential for and the path to valued living that may currently be hidden from view.

It’s the mission at Bloke Therapy to help you learn the tools that you can use to find what’s on the other side of your pain that’s worth changing for.
